In this hands-on kimchi-making class, dive into the world of Korea's most famous and surprisingly nutritious fermented food. Kimchi has a rich history and has been a staple of Korean cuisine for more than a thousand years. Expert kimchi-maker Jay MacLean will guide guests on how to make the perfect kimchi and each guest will take home their own container of delicious, marinated cabbage.
Jay MacLean is a third-generation Zainichi Korean who grew up in an environment shaped by multiple languages and cultures. Within this setting, Korean traditional food and cultural heritage became a natural part of her everyday life. Jay believes in sharing her culture through food and is an avid promoter of Korean arts and culture.
She attended the Korea National University of the Arts and has worked on United Nations humanitarian missions in conflict zones throughout the Middle East and Africa. MacLean is a frequent presenter of Korean food and cultural heritage and serves as an advisor to Korea's Gyeongdong Market and is a board member of Yundang Art Hall.
